Examples of volunteer positions at Christian Care:
Group Activity Aide
The Group Activity Aide will assist the Activity staff in providing group activities to residents. Assistance is often needed before, during, and after the activity. Examples include assisting residents during bingo, helping with parties, assisting on outings, etc.
The Volunteer Receptionist will warmly greet visitors as they enter the nursing center, direct visitors as needed, answer the receptionist’s phone, and occasionally handle minor tasks as requested by the supervisory staff. The volunteer receptionist‘s hours will be after those of the assistant to the nursing staff (i.e.: evenings and weekends).
Weekend or Evening Small Group Leader
The role of the Small Group Activity Leader is to provide residents with additional opportunities for group activities during times when activity staff is limited. The types of activities offered by the Leader will vary according to the preferences and abilities of the residents and the particular Leader. Examples include reading aloud, reminiscing, hand massages, etc.
The Program Volunteer will occasionally provide residents with entertainment or other skills that may be educational, inspirational, thought-provoking, motivating, or simply entertaining. Examples include leading devotions, musical entertainment, show a travelogue, etc.
